Abstract

In April 2024, the year on year (y-on-y) inflation in Papua Barat Daya Province was 2.45 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.58. The highest inflation occurred in Sorong Regency at 4.12 percent with a CPI of 104.30 and the lowest inflation occurred in Sorong City at 1.79 percent with a CPI amounting to 104.32.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverage and tobacco groups by 4.19 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.74 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.27 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 0.42 percent; health group by 2.02 percent; transportation group at 3.59 percent; information, communication and financial services group of 0.02; recreation, sports and culture group at 3.13 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 2.65 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 2.56 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decline in the index was the education group by 2.43 percent.

The month to month (m-to-m) and year to date (y-to-d) inflation rates for Papua Barat Daya Province in April 2024 were 0.73 percent and 1.12 percent respectively.
