Abstract

In February 2024, there was year on year (y-on-y) inflation in Southwest Papua Province of 1.81 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 103.44. The highest inflation occurred in South Sorong Regency at 3.15 percent with a CPI of 107.41 and the lowest occurred in Sorong City at 1.57 percent with a CPI of 103.11.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 2.59 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.21 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.42 percent; health group by 2.03 percent; transportation group at 4.67 percent; information, communication and financial services group of 0.01; recreation, sports and culture group at 2.94 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 3.10 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 1.58 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index were: supplies, equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.22 percent; and the education group was 2.43 percent.
The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate and year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate for Southwest Papua Province in February 2024 are 0.11 percent and 0.02 percent respectively.
