The September 2023 Inflation Rate of Composite Consumer Price Index at Two CPI Cities in Papua Barat Province

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate of composite two CPI cities at Papua Barat Province in September 2023 was 2.69 percent. The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in Manokwari was 5.26 percent, while in Sorong City was 1.99 percent.

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate of composite two CPI cities at Papua Barat Province in September 2023 was 2.69 percent with its Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.13. All of 90 CPI cities were experiencing inflation. The highest inflation was seen in Manokwari at 5.26 percent with a CPI of 119.96, while the lowest was seen in Gorontalo and Manado at 1.16 percent with a CPI of 113.23 and 113.96, respectively.

Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Transport Group of 4.58 percent; Recreation, Sport and Culture Group of 4.57 percent; Food, Beverages and Tobacco Group of 4.49 percent; Food and Beverages Services/Restaurants Group of 3.41 percent; Health Group 2.77 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 2.53 percent; Personal Care and Other Services Group of 2.50 percent; and Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.23 percent. On the other hand, expenditure groups that recorded a deflation were Education Services Group of 2.22 percent; Clothing And Footwear Group of 0.48 percent; and Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group of 0,01 percent.

The month-to-month (m-to-m) (September 2023 compared to August 2023) deflation rate in September 2023 was 0.63 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) (September 2023 compared to December 2022) inflation in September 2023 was 2.38 percent.
