Total workforce in West Papua in February 2024 is 318,619 people. Together with this, the West Papua Province Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) is 75.10 percent. The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) for February 2024 is 4.31 percent.

The working population is 304,467 people. The employment sector with the largest percentage is the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Sector (43.08 percent). Meanwhile, the sector with the smallest percentage is the Electricity, Gas, Steam/Hot Water & Cold Air Procurement Sector; Water Treatment, Waste Water Treatment, Waste Material Treatment & Recovery, & Remediation Activities; Information and Communication; Financial Services; and Real Estate, namely a total of 0.16 percent.

A total of 184,609 people (32.01 percent) worked in informal activities. The percentage of underemployed is 10.64 percent.
