Statistics of Migration of Province of Papua Barat Results of the 2020 Population Census

Migration or permanent mobility is one component of population growth in addition to fertility and mortality. However, compared with the data of fertility and mortality, migration data are still very scarce. This is caused by the absence of a specific survey for migration. The question of migration is available from census, intercensal population survey, and in the recent years is also covered in the socio-economic survey. Migration is a rare occurrence, not all people experience it, so the data migration from the survey are less well due to the small sample. Meanwhile, migration data derived from administrative records are still far from perfection. To meet the needs of a more complete data migration, the Migration Statistics Publication of Papua Province derived from 2020 Population Census results was prepared. Publication is presented nationally and provincially which include the types of lifetimes, and recent migration. The national publication presented data migration on provincial movement. As for provincial publication presented data migration on district movement. This publication presents the size and internal migration flow. It also presents the characteristics of migrants.
