Labor Force Situation in Papua Barat Province August 2018

Data collection on employment is the main activity of the Central Statistics Agency. The main activity is carried out through the National Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS), which is a special survey to collect employment data. Apart from SAKERNAS, employment data collection is also carried out through other survey activities, such as the National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS), Population Census (SP) and Inter-Census Population Survey (SUPAS). The concepts and definitions used in the collection of employment data by the Central Statistics Agency have not changed since 1976, except for the concept of open unemployment and employment status, starting in 2001 experiencing expansion.
Since 2007, the draft implementation of Sakernas in February was only able to be presented up to the provincial level, while in August the implementation could be presented up to the district / city level. The sample selected for this survey in the Province of West Papua amounted to 2,560 households. The tables are presented broken down by gender (male and female) and by region (urban and rural), with numbering of tables starting with a total table.
The collection of employment data through SAKERNAS has three main objectives. The three objectives are to find out the characteristics:
i. Working population;ii. Unemployment and underemployment;iii. The population included in the non labor force category is, those who go to school, take care of the household and do it other activities.
