Abstract
Human Development Index (HDI) of Papua Barat Province in 2024 reached 67,69. During the period 2022–2024, Papua Barat’s HDI increased on average by 1.24 percent annually.
All HDI dimensions including long and healthy life, knowledge, and decent standard of living improved in 2023. The increase of HDI is higher than previous year. All dimensions increase higher compared to previous year, particularly on decent standard of living dimension, which raised from 8,38 millions rupiah in 2023 to 8,80 millions rupiah.
In the long and healthy life dimension, life expectancy at birth in 2024 was recorded as high as 68.47 years. This means children who were born in this year were expected to live 0.19 years longer than those who were born in the previous year.
In the knowledge dimension, the expected years of schooling indicator stood at 13.17 years, representing an increase of 0.01 years compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the mean years of schooling indicator (people aged 25+ years old) increased by 0.20 years, from 7.66 years in 2023 to 7.86 years in 2024.
