Abstract

The Labor Force survey in Papua Barat conducted in August 2024 indicates that the number of people categorized as labor force is approximately 302,588. The labor force participation rate is around 71.25 percent, an increase of 0.8 percent compared to the previous year.

The Sakernas survey conducted in August 2024 captured approximately 290,077 people in the workforce, an increase of 6,902 workers compared to August 2023. The manufacturing sector experienced the largest increase in employment, adding approximately 5,973 workers.

In August 2024, 107,717 workers (31.13 percent) were employed in formal activities, an increase of 0.23 percent from the previous year.

In August 2024, underemployment was recorded at approximately 10.90 percent, an increase of about 5.12 percent. Meanwhile, the number of part-time workers was recorded at 26.21 percent, a decrease of 1.15 percent from August 2023.

The unemployment rate in Papua Barat was approximately 4.13 percent in August 2024, a decrease of 0.05 percent from the previous year.
